Copernicus formed in late 2009 as a deathcore band consisting of members of former bands in the Central-Kansas metal scene. After six months of building a solid local following and recording a demo EP, they took their message on the road playing regional tours, including performances at Cornerstone Festival 2010, where their spirit-filled message, tight musicianship, and energetic performance impressed owners of Sancrosanct Records enough to sign the band.

Since then, Copernicus has taken their deathcore roots and incorporated progressive and hardcore genres to create their own unique blend of metal. This new sound can be heard on their debut album “Reaching Reality” which was recorded this spring with producer Kyle Kumer (Your Memorial) and mastered by Jamie King (Between The Buried And Me).

In addition to the July 2011 release of “Reaching Reality”, the band has taken to touring full time. With a two month spring/summer tour behind them, including crowd pleasing performances at Agape Festival, Ichthus Festival, Cornerstone Festival, and Lifest; it’s full speed ahead for Copernicus as they end their Summer on a three week tour with The Burial (Facedown Records), with four months of additional touring this fall where you can catch Copernicus all across the United States.
